IN BRIEF

A student who may need university accommodation should apply during the window even while comparing private rooms, because missing the deadline removes one important option.

  • The published application period is 24 to 27 August 2026.
  • It applies to first-year, first-time UAlg students placed in the first national phase.
  • Priority considers grant status and the distance between the family home and the university.
  • An application is not a room guarantee; wait for the allocation before making fixed travel plans.
01

A short application window

Students entering the University of the Algarve through the first national placement phase can apply for a university residence from Monday 24 August to Thursday 27 August. The university’s notice says applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

This is separate from course enrolment. Complete both processes and save the confirmations, because proof that one was submitted does not prove that the other was completed.

02

Who receives priority

University residences are limited. UAlg says priority is given to students with a social-action grant and to those whose permanent home is farther from the university.

The 2026/27 published monthly prices are €161 for a shared room for a grant student receiving the accommodation supplement and €195 for a non-grant student. Ask what is included and when the first payment is due before comparing the figure with a private rental.

03

Keep a backup until allocation is confirmed

Submitting on time preserves the option but does not guarantee a place. Continue a careful private search and avoid a non-refundable payment or journey until the university confirms the residence, room type and check-in date.

If a private room is needed, confirm the campus first. UAlg teaching is spread across locations, so the right housing search depends on where the course actually takes place.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Submit the residence application by 27 August.

  2. 02

Complete course enrolment as a separate task.

  3. 03

    Save both confirmations.

  4. 04

Confirm the campus before choosing private housing.
