IN BRIEF

A normal cross-town car route, delivery or parking plan around the river may not work during the closure.

  • The announced closure is 09:00–19:00 on 22 September.
  • Ponte do Gilão and streets including Rua da Liberdade and Rua do Cais are affected.
  • Activities are planned by the river and Jardim do Coreto.
  • Check local signs for access and delivery arrangements on the day.
01

Where the change applies

The municipality lists Rua da Liberdade, Rua dos Pelames, Rua 5 de Outubro, Rua Jaques Pessoa, Ponte do Gilão, Rua do Cais and Rua José Pires Padinha. The restriction is to motorised traffic; it is part of a programme encouraging other ways to move through the centre.

School groups and local partners are taking part in morning activities near the river and Jardim do Coreto. The display of two newly acquired electric school buses is separate from the temporary street closure.

02

Before a town-centre trip

If you normally drive across the bridge or use one of the listed streets for a delivery, identify a lawful alternative and allow for nearby congestion. A business's address may still be reachable on foot even when the usual vehicle access is unavailable.

The municipal announcement sets the planned hours; on-site traffic management takes precedence if conditions change. Leave extra time for appointments and follow the signed diversion.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Check whether your route uses Ponte do Gilão or a listed street.

  2. 02

Choose alternative parking and allow walking time.

  3. 03

Follow municipal traffic signs during the event.
