Archived 12 September 2026Nothing in the bidding stage changes a passenger's existing ticket, route or rights today.
- Air France-KLM and Lufthansa submitted final proposals.
- The planned sale covers up to 49.9% of TAP.
- The State is not yet announcing a winning bidder or final terms.
- Current tickets and passenger rights continue under the existing operation.
The sale remains a competitive process
Air France-KLM confirmed an offer for up to 49.9%, and both shortlisted groups are reported to have delivered final bids. The planned structure reserves 44.9% for an investor and up to 5% for employees, subject to the process rules.
A submitted proposal is not an acquisition. The State still has to assess strategy, value, safeguards and conditions before any agreement can complete.
Passengers should use operating information
Book, change or claim against a TAP journey through the current airline channels and applicable passenger-rights rules. Ownership speculation is not evidence that a route has been cancelled or a fare changed.
Employees and suppliers should distinguish official process announcements from rumours about future management, fleets or jobs.
What you can do now.
- 01
Check an actual journey through TAP's current channels.
- 02
Keep booking and disruption records where a claim may be needed.
- 03
Treat ownership terms as provisional until officially decided.
