IN BRIEF

The parade is free to watch and offers a broad picture of the district, but its route through the historic centre will affect ordinary movement on Saturday afternoon.

  • The procession starts at Cais 3 at 16:30 on Saturday, 19 September.
  • It is expected to reach Praça de Bocage at about 18:00 for the closing ceremony.
  • The route passes through several historic-centre streets and brings together the district's 13 municipalities.
01

What the parade commemorates

The event marks a century since Setúbal was proclaimed a district capital in 1926. Municipal delegations, bands, local associations and participants in period costume will carry a symbolic copy of the proclamation through the city.

The closing ceremony in Praça de Bocage is expected to include a staged reading of the 1926 proclamation and the national anthem. The parade forms part of the city's wider Bocage commemorations.

02

Expect temporary crowding and traffic restrictions along this corridor. If you need to cross the centre or reach an appointment, allow more time and check local traffic notices on Saturday.
