Metrobus returns to Serpins on 1 September
The final six-kilometre section between Lousã and Serpins is due to reopen after slope-stabilisation work. The replacement bus will end on the same day and the usual through service to Coimbra will return.

A through journey returns
Metro Mondego says the Metrobus will again run between Lousã and Serpins from 1 September. Reopening the final section restores the full Serpins–Coimbra route and removes the transfer to the temporary replacement bus.
The affected section is about six kilometres long and includes three stations: Casal de Espírito Santo, Casal de Santo António and Serpins. Normal frequencies are expected to return across the route.
Why the section was closed
The company suspended the section after geotechnical problems followed the storms that affected Central Portugal in January and February. Work began in March on slopes near Rogela and Serpins.
The reopening follows technical monitoring of those slopes. That is important context: the interruption was a preventive safety measure, not an ordinary timetable reduction.
Check the first week carefully
Anyone who has built a routine around the replacement bus should confirm the departure time, boarding point and connection before 1 September. A service returning to its normal route can change the place where a familiar journey begins.
Allow a little extra time during the first few days, especially for a fixed appointment or class. If severe weather returns, use Metro Mondego's live service notice rather than an old saved timetable.
