What the municipality wants to resolve
Local reports describe wild boar approaching settlements, damaging smallholdings, vines and irrigation systems, and being involved in road incidents. The meeting is intended to bring the municipality, ICNF and hunting representatives around one evidence and response plan.
The government has discussed a pilot that could support control in areas with excessive density, but Sardoal's inclusion is not confirmed. Neither a local concern nor a political request creates authority to hunt outside the applicable rules.
Reduce risk without improvising
Drivers should slow down on rural roads at dawn, dusk and night, especially where visibility is poor. If an animal enters the road, brake in a controlled way and avoid a sudden manoeuvre that creates a greater collision risk.
Landowners should document repeated damage and ask the municipality or ICNF about lawful prevention. Do not feed wild boar or attempt to corner an animal near a home.
