ERSE proposes a 1.5% rise in regulated electricity prices for 2027
The energy regulator's annual proposal points to an average 1.5% increase for standard low-voltage customers on the regulated tariff from January.

Archived 12 September 2026This is a proposal, not a final bill. The Tariff Council must give its opinion before ERSE approves the final tariff tables in December, and an individual bill will still depend on the tariff option, contracted power and consumption.
- The proposed average change for regulated standard low voltage is 1.5% from January 2027.
- The final tariffs are due only after consultation and ERSE's December decision.
- Customers should compare the final euro cost, not apply the headline percentage mechanically to every bill.
The figure is still under consultation
ERSE presents tariff proposals each October, receives the Tariff Council's opinion and then publishes the final decision. The 1.5% figure is therefore a planning signal rather than an approved price table.
Regulated prices can also be relevant to eligible customers on an equivalent regulated-price arrangement. A free-market contract follows its own terms and notice rules.
Estimate the effect from the final tariff
Wait for the approved tables, then compare the energy price, network charges, contracted power, taxes and any commercial discount. A household using more or less than the reference profile will not see precisely the same percentage change.
Use ERSE's official comparator when the 2027 offers are available. Do not cancel a contract solely on the proposal without checking notice periods and the complete annual cost.
What you can do now.
- 01
Treat 1.5% as a proposal until ERSE publishes the final decision.
- 02
Check whether the contract is regulated, equivalent-regulated or free market.
- 03
Compare annual euro costs when 2027 price tables are available.
