IN BRIEF

The report shows a national trend, not a diagnosis or a forecast for one household. People should follow current vaccination and clinical advice, use SNS 24 for triage and seek emergency help for severe symptoms.

  • SNS 24 triaged 73,135 contacts, 3.3% more than the previous week.
  • Contacts for acute respiratory problems rose 19.6% to 12,658.
  • DGS described influenza activity as sporadic and mortality as within the expected range.
01

Several indicators moved, but not in the same direction

The proportion of hospital emergency episodes involving acute respiratory infection rose to 6.4%, while total emergency episodes fell 1.5%. That distinction matters: the respiratory share increased without a rise in every use of emergency care.

DGS also reported an earlier rise in the proportion of influenza-syndrome emergencies than in recent seasons, though still below 2019/20 at the same point.

02

Respond to symptoms, not only to the statistics

People who are eligible can check the seasonal vaccination route and ask a clinician or pharmacist about individual circumstances. Everyday measures such as ventilation and staying away from vulnerable people when ill can reduce transmission.

Use SNS 24 for advice when the correct level of care is unclear. Difficulty breathing, altered consciousness or another immediate life-threatening sign requires 112 rather than waiting for a weekly report.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Check the current seasonal-vaccination guidance for your eligibility.

  2. 02

Use SNS 24 when you need clinical triage.

  3. 03

Call 112 for severe or life-threatening symptoms.
