Archived 12 September 2026Whether a school, health unit, council counter, court or refuse service is affected depends on local staffing and minimum-service arrangements.
- The strike runs for 24 hours on 2 October.
- It covers general public-administration careers across central, regional and local government.
- Disruption varies by service and place; confirm before travelling.
A national strike with local effects
The stoppage covers operational assistants, technical assistants and higher technicians. Union and service notices warn of possible effects on schools, health services, public counters, courts, refuse collection and other municipal operations.
A national strike notice does not prove that every site is closed. Minimum services, staffing and local participation can produce very different results between neighbouring services.
Check the service, not only the headline
Look for a notice from the school, health unit, court, council or operator you intend to use. If nothing is published, call before making a long journey and keep proof of any appointment.
For urgent health or safety needs, use the normal official emergency route. A labour dispute does not change when 112 should be used.
What you can do now.
- 01
Check the responsible service's notice before leaving.
- 02
Keep appointment and cancellation records.
- 03
Use official emergency channels for urgent needs.
