Portugal’s first university placements are out. Here is what happens next
First-phase results are now available. Placed students enrol from 24 to 27 August, while candidates considering the second phase should check the live application deadline because two official DGES pages currently show different closing dates.

Start with the result, then the institution
Candidates can now see the first-phase outcome in the national access system. A placement is the start of the next process, not the end of it: each university or polytechnic sets out its own enrolment steps, payment arrangements and document checks.
Read the institution’s message in full before paying for travel or accommodation. Confirm the campus used by the course, because a university name and the teaching address are not always the same place.
The dates that matter this week
First-phase enrolment runs from Monday 24 August to Thursday 27 August. Complaints about first-phase results can be submitted from 24 to 28 August under the published national calendar.
There is an unresolved date mismatch on the official DGES website. The new results announcement and the online application page show the second phase running to 20 September, while the published calendar and FAQ still show 2 September. Until DGES aligns those pages, use the deadline displayed inside the live application process and keep a dated copy of the confirmation.
Think carefully before entering another phase
A candidate may apply again after accepting a first-phase place. If the later application succeeds, however, the earlier placement and enrolment are cancelled automatically. That makes the order of course choices and the willingness to move especially important.
Housing should be checked independently. Ask about the complete monthly cost, deposit, contract length, utilities and journey to the actual campus before sending money. A course offer does not reserve a room.
