01

What was confirmed overnight

The rural fire started in scrub and cork-oak country around Nave Redonda, in the parish of Sabóia, and spread toward the Silves boundary. Hundreds of personnel were deployed, homes were protected and some residents were moved as a precaution.

Four Portimão firefighters were treated after their vehicle was involved in an accident and were later discharged. This human update does not mean the wider incident is over.

02

Travel and safety come first

Odemira's municipal civil protection service asked people to avoid the affected area and obey emergency crews. Road access and rail operations can change as the perimeter, smoke and equipment movements develop.

Do not travel to watch the fire or rely on an old resource count. If you are nearby, use Civil Protection and municipal instructions, keep 112 for emergencies and leave promptly if directed.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Check Civil Protection, municipal and transport updates immediately before travel.

  2. 02

Avoid the affected area and keep access clear for emergency vehicles.

  3. 03

Follow evacuation or shelter instructions without delay.
