FOLIO brings more than 400 authors and creators to Óbidos
The 11th Óbidos International Literary Festival runs for eleven days under the theme “Beyond the skin”, with talks, performances and family programming.
Archived after its publication day. Search retains this original briefing for background and accountability.
Archived 12 September 2026The programme creates many reasons to visit, but individual events can require registration, tickets or have limited capacity.
- The programme involves more than 400 authors and creators.
- Nobel laureate Jon Fosse is among the expected participants.
- Family activities sit alongside literary conversations, exhibitions and performances.
A festival spread across the town
FOLIO uses multiple venues in Óbidos rather than a single auditorium. Travel time, capacity and access conditions therefore differ across the daily programme.
A named participant's appearance remains subject to the organiser's final schedule. Visitors should use the current programme rather than a general preview.
Build a workable day
Choose priority events, check whether booking is required and leave time to move through the historic centre. Families should confirm age guidance and session language for children's activities.
Parking and road access can be busy during large events. Public transport, accessible routes and weather exposure should be considered before arrival.
