North Line works replace selected Porto–Ovar and long-distance trains with buses
CP has road transfers on parts of the Aveiro and North lines through early November, including selected urban, Intercidades and Alfa Pendular journeys.
Archived after its publication day. Search retains this original briefing for background and accountability.
Archived 12 September 2026A train shown in a normal timetable may include a bus connection, a different stop or accessibility limits. Check the exact train number before travel.
- Porto urban replacement buses between Porto and Ovar run on selected services from 3 October to 1 November.
- Selected Intercidades 723 and Alfa Pendular 130 and 180 journeys also have road transfers during the works.
- Replacement buses may not carry wheelchairs, bicycles or mobility scooters.
The change depends on the train
The works do not replace every service. CP publishes separate notices and stop lists by direction and train number, so a general Porto–Aveiro search is not enough to understand one journey.
Connections can take longer and road stops may not be at the railway entrance. Confirm both the transfer point and the bus boarding location.
Accessibility needs advance confirmation
Road vehicles used for a transfer can have different space and boarding arrangements from trains. CP warns that some replacement services cannot carry wheelchairs, bicycles or mobility scooters.
Passengers who need assistance should contact CP before travelling and seek a workable alternative if the published vehicle cannot meet the need.
What you can do now.
- 01
Search CP using the exact train number and date.
- 02
Confirm the replacement-bus stop and connection time.
- 03
Contact CP in advance for accessibility or bicycle transport.
