Archived 12 September 2026A warm outlook is not an active heat warning. Check the current district forecast before outdoor work, travel or fire use because conditions and warning levels can change.
- Maximums should exceed 25°C in most mainland areas away from parts of the coast.
- The Alentejo and Tagus valley may exceed 30°C early in the week.
- IPMA indicates a heatwave is possible across a large part of the mainland, but local forecasts remain the operational reference.
High pressure drives the outlook
A persistent anticyclone over Iberia is expected to bring mostly clear skies, light wind and temperatures above the mid-October norm. Rainfall is not expected to be significant during the weekly period.
A weekly outlook describes a broad pattern. Coastal cloud, morning fog and local temperature differences still matter, and the forecast can be revised.
Use the live forecast for decisions
Plan strenuous activity for cooler hours, carry water and never leave children, older people or animals in a parked vehicle. Warm autumn days can still have cooler mornings and evenings.
Check IPMA warnings, municipal fire restrictions and local civil-protection instructions before burning, machinery work or an exposed walk. A forecast of 30°C does not by itself define the legal fire-risk rule.
