Archived 12 September 2026Eligible residents can use regional health centres, but SESARAM recommends booking first so each unit can manage demand.
- Madeira has obtained 53,000 flu doses and 11,580 COVID-19 doses for the campaign.
- The flu programme now includes children aged two to four.
- People aged 60 or over, pregnant people and specified clinical or occupational groups are among those covered.
The regional programme has started
SESARAM says vaccination is free and available through the region's health centres. The flu stock includes 17,000 high-dose vaccines intended for people over 75 and residents of care homes.
The eligible groups also include people with chronic illness or immunosuppression, health professionals, clinical-placement students, firefighters and some livestock and forestry workers.
Confirm the appointment route
Contact the normal health centre before attending. Booking is recommended, and the appropriate vaccine still depends on age, clinical circumstances and current professional guidance.
Vaccination reduces the risk of serious illness but does not replace advice for severe symptoms or an urgent deterioration. Use the appropriate health-service route when someone is unwell.
What you can do now.
- 01
Contact the local health centre to confirm eligibility and booking.
- 02
Bring the identification and health information requested by the service.
- 03
Seek medical advice for severe or worsening symptoms.
