IN BRIEF

Residents can distinguish an investment programme intended to expand future supply from a currently open tenant waiting list.

  • The call has €24 million in European regional-development funding.
  • Eligible applicants are IHM and the Municipality of Câmara de Lobos, not individual households.
  • Funded operations can run for up to 36 months, so the announcement does not create immediate vacancies.
01

Where the money is intended to go

The programme covers Funchal, Câmara de Lobos and Santa Cruz, the three municipalities identified as concentrating around 80% of Madeira's population and the principal assessed housing need. It can support construction, rehabilitation and acquisition of homes for affordable rent.

The indicative split is €17.9 million for IHM and €6.1 million for Câmara de Lobos. The call is open to those public bodies until 25 September, with a base co-financing rate of 65% that may be revised within the programme rules.

02

What a household can do now

This notice finances providers; it does not allocate a particular flat to a family. A later tenancy route will need its own eligibility rules, application window and evidence.

Keep your household, income, residence and current housing documents current, and follow IHM and the relevant municipality for an actual allocation notice. Do not pay anyone who claims this funding announcement guarantees access to a property.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Follow IHM and municipal housing notices for tenant applications.

  2. 02

Keep household and income evidence ready for a future call.

  3. 03

Treat the €24 million as supply funding, not an individual entitlement.
