MAAT marks ten years with free entry and new exhibitions this weekend
Lisbon's MAAT is offering free entry on 4 and 5 October, with exhibitions, short tours, workshops and performances.
Archived after its publication day. Search retains this original briefing for background and accountability.
Archived 12 September 2026Admission is free, but activities have limited capacity and same-day registration, so a particular session is not guaranteed.
- The anniversary programme runs on Sunday and Monday, 4 and 5 October.
- Four new exhibitions include work by Pedro Cabrita Reis and Joana Vasconcelos.
- Activity wristbands are allocated at the MAAT Central ticket desk on the day.
Two free days across the museum
The programme combines exhibition access with flash tours, science activities, embroidery, performances and family sessions. The museum's industrial Central Tejo spaces are also part of the schedule.
The new VENUS exhibition brings Joana Vasconcelos's work into dialogue with more than 30 Valentino haute-couture and ready-to-wear creations. It remains open beyond the anniversary weekend.
Plan around capacity and weather
Check the official timetable before travelling. Each activity has its own age, venue and capacity, and places are allocated in person until full.
Some garden activity is weather-dependent. Free entry may also mean busy arrival periods, so allow time for the ticket desk and choose alternatives if a session fills.
What you can do now.
- 01
Read the official programme and choose backup activities.
- 02
Collect any required wristband at MAAT Central.
- 03
Allow extra time for crowds and weather changes.
