IN BRIEF

Drivers should allow extra time and follow the signed lanes. The published arrangement keeps traffic moving but may reduce each gallery from four lanes to two, and sometimes one at night.

  • The work is scheduled to start on 19 October and last about 60 days.
  • Two lanes per gallery are planned with a 50 km/h limit during the works.
  • Between 22:00 and 06:00, further closures can reduce circulation to one lane.
01

Lighting work changes tunnel capacity

Infraestruturas de Portugal is replacing lighting inside the galleries and near the tunnel portals. The work zone will be signed, and the reduced speed and lane layout apply for safety while crews and equipment occupy the site.

The 60-day period is an expected duration, not a promise that every night will have the same arrangement. Weather and operational needs can change the active lane pattern.

02

Check conditions before an important journey

Use live traffic information before setting out, particularly for airport, hospital or timed connections. A route that is usually predictable may need a larger margin during overnight closures.

Do not change lanes late at the portal or stop in the tunnel to check directions. Follow signs and emergency instructions even when a navigation app suggests a faster line.
