Archived 12 September 2026This is a network-wide interruption rather than a delay on one line. Travellers should build a journey around another operator and recheck live information before leaving.
- The strike period runs from 05:00 on 14 October until 05:00 on 15 October.
- Metro says stations are expected to remain closed and service is due to resume at 06:30 on 15 October.
- Other transport services may become busier; a normal Metro connection should not be assumed.
Plan for a closed Metro network
The operator's notice covers the full network. An individual station or line should not be treated as available unless Metro publishes a later operational change.
The arbitration decision did not establish minimum passenger services for the strike. That makes an alternative route essential for work, appointments, school or an airport connection.
Use live information for the replacement journey
Check Carris, CP, Fertagus, Transtejo Soflusa or another relevant operator for the exact trip, and allow for crowding and traffic. A route shown by a planner can still change during disruption.
For a flight or time-sensitive appointment, leave a larger buffer and keep a second option. Service is scheduled to resume at 06:30 on 15 October, but the operator's current notice remains the final check.
What you can do now.
- 01
Choose a non-Metro route before leaving.
- 02
Check the relevant operator's live service notice.
- 03
Allow extra time for crowding, traffic and transfers.
