IN BRIEF

Passengers should not assume that every taxi or sales point is already operating the new process. Confirm the price, destination zone and payment method before boarding and use the official rank.

  • The protocol formally applies from 15 October to journeys from the arrivals taxi rank.
  • RTP reported on launch evening that implementation was incomplete and was expected to be resolved in early November.
  • The amount varies with destination zone, time and passenger count, so a fixed-price journey is not one universal fare.
01

Launch did not mean complete coverage

The airport arrangement is intended to make a price known before travel, but the first evening showed that the operational rollout was incomplete. A passenger should therefore verify that the quoted journey is actually being handled under the fixed-price protocol.

Ask which zone applies and check the displayed or stated amount before luggage is loaded. Keep the receipt and taxi identification if a complaint is necessary.

02

Ordinary taxi safeguards still apply

Use the official rank and do not follow an unsolicited driver away from it. Confirm that the vehicle and driver are using the fixed-price arrangement; until implementation is complete, do not infer participation from location alone.

For accessibility needs, a larger group or a destination outside the published zones, confirm the vehicle and price with staff before joining the queue. Report a safety emergency to 112 and a fare or conduct complaint through the responsible taxi or consumer channel.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Ask whether the journey is being sold under the fixed-price protocol.

  2. 02

Check the destination zone and amount before boarding.

  3. 03

Use the official rank and keep the receipt and vehicle identification.
