Archived 12 September 2026Drivers crossing between Lisbon and Almada should allow extra time, especially for airport, work and late-night connections.
- The announced work covers the nights of 21 to 25 September.
- The bridge remains open, with traffic restrictions rather than a blanket closure.
- A specific lane arrangement can change during works.
- Check the operator's live notice before a time-critical journey.
The practical effect
Resurfacing can reduce the space available for vehicles and create slower approaches even if traffic continues across the bridge. Lusoponte announced the intervention in advance; RTP also reported the overnight timetable.
The notice concerns road traffic. Do not assume that a train service is cancelled because the road carriageway is restricted; check rail information separately if travelling by train.
Plan the crossing
Give yourself a buffer for late flights, hospital appointments or intercity transfers. Navigation apps can help with current queues, but the operator's work notice is the starting point for the planned restriction.
If a different Tagus crossing is feasible, compare the actual route and toll instead of assuming it will be quicker. Follow temporary signs and on-site instructions.
What you can do now.
- 01
Check the latest Lusoponte notice and live traffic.
- 02
Allow extra time on an overnight crossing.
- 03
Check train services independently if travelling without a car.
