IP3 Coimbra-to-Viseu traffic will divert at Lorvão on Monday afternoon
LED-lighting work between kilometres 53 and 54 is due to close the Coimbra-to-Viseu carriageway near junction 9A from 13:00 to 17:00 on 19 October.

Archived 12 September 2026Only the Coimbra-to-Viseu direction is covered by the announced diversion. Traffic will use the M535 between Lorvão and Espinheira before returning to the IP3.
- The planned window is 13:00-17:00 on Monday 19 October.
- The affected section is at the Lorvão junction between km 53 and km 54.
- The signed diversion uses the M535 to the Espinheira junction.
One direction leaves the IP3
Infraestruturas de Portugal is replacing high-pressure sodium fittings with LED units. The work requires a temporary closure and diversion in the Coimbra-to-Viseu direction only.
The end time may move with operational or site conditions. Drivers should follow the temporary signs rather than attempt an unsigned local shortcut.
Allow for slower local-road traffic
The M535 will carry vehicles that would normally remain on the IP3, so the diversion can take longer than the map distance suggests. Heavy traffic can also affect the approach to both junctions.
Check live conditions before leaving and protect time-critical connections with a sensible margin.
What you can do now.
- 01
Use the signed Lorvão-to-Espinheira diversion.
- 02
Avoid the 13:00-17:00 window if a flexible journey allows it.
- 03
Check live traffic before a timed commitment.
