IN BRIEF

The award funds planning, not construction or a new service. Residents should keep using current transport information until a separate works contract and operating plan exist.

  • The preliminary study was awarded for €315,000.
  • The expected study period is about five months.
  • Construction would require a separate contract after the study.
01

The next output is a study

The document is intended to examine the route and technical basis for a BRT connection. The procurement value is below the €450,000 amount anticipated when the study competition opened in April.

A completed study can inform a decision, but it does not itself authorise works, buy vehicles or create stops and fares.

02

Do not plan a commute around an unbuilt line

People comparing homes, jobs or schools should use the timetable and journey time available today. A future transport corridor may change the area, but the route, works disruption and opening date are not yet established.

Follow municipal procurement and mobility notices for the study outcome and any later consultation. Check whether a later project changes roads, parking or property access before making a commitment.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Use current services for near-term commute decisions.

  2. 02

Watch Guimarães mobility notices for the study outcome.

  3. 03

Treat route and opening dates as unconfirmed until later approvals.
