IN BRIEF

Residents and visitors have a central, week-long programme to explore food choices and local initiatives, but individual sessions may have their own time or capacity.

  • The programme runs from Monday 21 to Saturday 26 September.
  • The opening is scheduled for 15:00 today in Largo da Restauração.
  • Activities address health, sustainability and inclusion through food.
  • Check the daily programme before travelling for one particular activity.
01

What the week is about

Funchal is bringing organisations and activities together around everyday food: what people eat, how food is produced and used, and how access can be made healthier and more inclusive. The programme is intended for public participation rather than a trade-only event.

A week-long title does not mean that every activity runs continuously. Talks, demonstrations or workshops can have a specific time, audience or capacity, so the daily listing is the useful planning tool.

02

Plan the visit

Largo da Restauração is the main announced setting for the opening. Allow for normal central-Funchal traffic and choose public transport or legal parking where practical.

If attending with a child or because of a dietary requirement, confirm whether the selected session is participatory and whether samples are suitable. An event's focus on healthy or inclusive food is not a guarantee about every ingredient served.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Check the activity and time for the day you plan to attend.

  2. 02

Confirm accessibility or dietary needs with the organiser.

  3. 03

Allow extra time for central-Funchal transport and parking.
