IN BRIEF

The route remains usable under alternating traffic, but residents and EN2 travellers should expect temporary controls once the 120-day construction phase starts.

  • The awarded contract is worth approximately €1.27 million and has a 120-day construction period.
  • Work is expected to start by the end of October and may continue into early 2027.
  • Traffic currently uses one alternating lane controlled by signals.
  • The municipality does not expect a full closure as the normal arrangement, but temporary changes may still be needed during particular operations.
01

What the repair is intended to fix

The project addresses the unstable slope and damaged section of the EN2 at Espinhaço de Cão following the January landslide. The contract covers stabilisation and road-safety work rather than a simple resurfacing job.

The 120-day period begins with the formal start of construction, not the contract announcement. Weather, ground conditions and the sequencing of heavy work can affect the completion date.

02

How to plan a journey through the works

For now, drivers pass through in one alternating lane controlled by traffic lights. Once work begins, temporary holds, construction vehicles and local speed limits can make journey times less predictable.

Check the current IP or municipal notice before a time-critical trip. Large vehicles and businesses with fixed delivery windows should keep a practical alternative route even if a continuous full closure is not planned.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Allow extra time while alternating traffic remains in place.

  2. 02

Check for a start-of-works notice before travelling in late October.

  3. 03

Follow temporary signals and do not pass a stopped queue on the controlled section.
