Coimbra opens its proposed bus-network redesign to public comment
Three free participation sessions on 16 and 17 October will present the proposed municipal network and collect comments before a planned first-quarter 2027 launch.

Archived 12 September 2026Residents can influence the proposal while it is still being developed. The maps and timings discussed are not yet the final operating network.
- The north and east session is at 18:00 on 16 October at EB 2,3 Rainha Santa Isabel.
- South and west, then central-area sessions take place on 17 October in Taveiro and Mercado D. Pedro V.
- Attendance is free but requires advance registration.
Each session covers a different part of Coimbra
The municipality and SMTUC are separating the discussion by groups of proposed lines so residents can focus on local connections. The sessions include a presentation followed by collaborative feedback.
The target is operation by the end of the first quarter of 2027, after comments are reviewed and the technical proposal is finalised.
Bring a concrete journey problem
Useful feedback identifies the origin, destination, travel time, day, interchange and accessibility need. A general request for more buses is harder to test than an example involving work, school, healthcare or a rail connection.
Register through the municipality's current notice and check the venue before travelling. Continue using current SMTUC information until a final network and start date are confirmed.
