IN BRIEF

The session creates a low-barrier route to testing, while results and any follow-up remain clinical and confidential.

  • The special session is on 28 September from 14:00 to 17:30.
  • It takes place at Rua Larga, Faculty of Medicine building, second floor.
  • The programme screens for HIV, hepatitis, syphilis and several other STIs.
  • The ongoing Protection+ programme is free for the UC community and uses appointment channels outside the special session.
01

What the programme includes

Protection+ lists tests for HIV, hepatitis A, B and C, syphilis, gonorrhoea, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium and Trichomonas vaginalis. Samples are handled confidentially and the health service assesses results and any need for follow-up.

The event is part of the activity before the Festa das Latas. Attendance at a celebration is not an eligibility test and screening should not be delayed until symptoms appear, because many infections can have no clear symptoms.

02

Use the right route after the session

UC publishes telephone appointment routes for members of the university community and for external users. Confirm the current arrangement if the special session is full or the time does not work for you.

Testing does not replace prevention or urgent care. Seek medical advice for symptoms, a recent high-risk exposure or questions about timing, because the appropriate test window varies by infection and circumstances.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Use the special session only if you meet its published eligibility.

  2. 02

Bring the identification or UC evidence requested by the service.

  3. 03

Follow the clinical advice provided with the result.
