IN BRIEF

The programme is free and the listed guided visits do not require advance registration, but visitors should check the event page for the correct time and meeting point before setting out.

  • The programme begins at 17:00 on 16 October and continues through 18 October.
  • Saturday's guided visits are free, with listed departures between the City Hall and the Palace of Justice.
  • Sunday's Festival do Guitarrinho programme ends with an 18:00 concert at Igreja do Carmo.
01

The historic street becomes the venue

Activities use the street, the Palace of Justice, Centro Comercial Sofia, Igreja do Carmo and the Coimbra branch of Liga dos Combatentes. The municipal programme combines performances with access to the area's built heritage.

Rua da Sofia forms part of the University of Coimbra, Alta and Sofia World Heritage property. Ordinary city access, weather and the capacity of individual indoor spaces can still affect the visit.

02

Match the activity to its location

Friday opens with fado, percussion and choral performances. Saturday gives greater weight to guided heritage routes, while Sunday's programme focuses on the guitarrinho before the closing concert.

The guided visits are advertised as open without registration, but that does not guarantee unlimited indoor capacity. Arrive early, confirm the meeting point and follow staff directions at each venue.
