Coimbra’s Move-C pass is expected to include CP trains from 1 October

Coimbra’s mayor says CP will join the regional intermodal system on the same date as Busway. One unresolved point remains: the free replacement between Coimbra-A and Coimbra-B is due to end before that date.

IN BRIEF

The wider pass could simplify regional commuting, but rail passengers need to check what ticket covers the gap between 15 September and 1 October.

  • CP and Busway are expected to join Move-C on 1 October.
  • Move-C already covers Metrobus and Coimbra's municipal buses.
  • Monthly prices are €30 for one municipality, €35 for two and €40 for three or more.
  • The reported 15-day ticketing gap for Coimbra-A–Coimbra-B has not yet been clarified.
01

A larger regional ticket

Coimbra mayor Ana Abrunhosa told the municipal executive that CP is expected to enter the Move-C intermodal system on 1 October. Busway, which operates intermunicipal road services, is also due to join that day.

If completed as announced, the change brings the main regional operators into one system: Metrobus, SMTUC, Busway and CP. The price depends on how many municipalities the pass covers rather than how many individual journeys are made.

02

The September gap still needs an answer

The temporary free transport between Coimbra-A and Coimbra-B is currently due to finish on 15 September. During the council discussion, the mayor did not confirm whether that arrangement would be extended to 1 October.

That leaves a practical question for passengers who use the rail connection before full CP integration. Do not assume one Move-C product covers the journey during those two weeks until the operators publish the exact arrangement.

03

Buy for the complete route

Before renewing a September or October pass, list every part of the regular journey and ask which product covers each leg. Take particular care if the trip combines a CP train with Metrobus or a municipal route.

The announcement is a clear direction of travel, but the operational terms still matter. Look for the effective date, eligible CP services, validation method and any replacement arrangement between the two Coimbra stations.
