Coimbra's libraries have published a full September programme
Reading groups, children's sessions, exhibitions and activities in neighbourhood branches run across September, with some events requiring advance registration.

- The main library's reading group meets on 3 and 24 September.
- Children's activities take place in the central and branch libraries, including Cernache, Brasfemes, Assafarge and São João do Campo.
- Places, ages and registration conditions vary, so check the individual activity before travelling.
What is on during the month
The programme includes reading-group discussions of A Selva by Ferreira de Castro and A Torre da Barbela by Ruben A., along with exhibitions on figures connected with Portuguese culture and Coimbra's history.
For younger visitors, the schedule includes Contos com Aranhas for ages six to nine and the Férias Mágicas programme for ages six to 12 in several municipal branches. Dates and times differ by location.
Plan the visit before promising it to a child
A programme listing does not always mean walk-in admission. Confirm the age range, registration route, branch address and remaining places with the library before setting out.
The municipal library is also offering an extended summer loan allowance until 15 September. Ask staff which membership evidence is needed if you have not yet registered for a library card.
