Coimbra bus diversions at Guarda Inglesa continue until 7 September
Road and drainage work is keeping part of Avenida da Guarda Inglesa closed and diverting 15 SMTUC services through Avenida de Conímbriga. Two stops remain suspended until the work is completed.
Passengers can avoid waiting at a closed stop and allow extra time for a changed route during the first week of September.
- The access road to the Moeve filling station remains closed, with completion of the main work expected by 7 September.
- Lines 12, 12A, 12R, 13P, 14T, 17, 21, 21A, 21R, 21T, 32, 32A, 32R, 38 and 48 are diverted via Avenida de Conímbriga.
- Stops 1515 and 1323 are temporarily suspended.
- Passengers should use stop 1466 or the temporary stop on Avenida de Conímbriga near SMTUC.
Why the restriction has been extended
The work covers road surfacing and drainage around Avenida da Guarda Inglesa, Avenida de Conímbriga and the Ponte Açude roundabout area. Heavy rain disrupted the timetable and exposed failed drainage elements that also needed replacement.
The municipality expects the main intervention to be complete by 7 September. Road markings will follow later under the normal technical process, so drivers should continue to follow temporary signs even when the surface work looks finished.
How to adjust a bus journey
Do not wait at stops 1515 or 1323 while the suspension is active. The municipal notice directs passengers to stop 1466 at Guarda Inglesa–Escola Silva Gaio or the temporary stop on Avenida de Conímbriga near the SMTUC facilities.
A diversion can alter journey time even when the published timetable remains unchanged. Leave a margin for a connection, appointment or school start, and check SMTUC for any later operational update before travelling.
