IN BRIEF

A recipient should not ignore the letter or pay from an unofficial message. The hearing is the point to correct facts or object before CGA issues the final net amount and repayment route.

  • The average prospective reduction reported is €93.31 gross per month, but individual differences vary.
  • CGA says final net repayment amounts and available methods will be notified later in October after responses are considered.
  • MURPI has challenged making pensioners bear the consequences; that dispute has not cancelled the CGA process.
01

The process is not yet at the same stage for everyone

Affected recipients have been told about the calculation error and given an opportunity to respond. Keep the original pension decision, simulation, payment statements and every letter because the personal facts and sums matter.

CGA has described the cause as a parameterisation error rather than a new interpretation of the law. That explanation does not decide an individual's objection or any later complaint.

02

Three repayment routes have been described

After the final notice, the reported options are payment within 30 days using the official Documento Único de Cobrança, recovery from later pensions with a monthly deduction capped at 30% of the net pension, or an application during the voluntary-payment period for instalments through December 2027.

Do not rely on a generic total or send money to details received by email or telephone. Check the letter in an official CGA channel and obtain individual legal or pension advice where the decision is disputed.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Reply within the deadline stated in the prior-hearing letter.

  2. 02

Keep the pension simulation, award decision and payment records together.

  3. 03

Verify the final notice through CGA before choosing a repayment option.
