IN BRIEF

The fleet is cleaner and quieter, but the announcement does not by itself create a new route or timetable. Passengers should continue to check their actual line and live service information.

  • The 37 buses are fully electric and enter the Carris Metropolitana Area 2 fleet.
  • Rodoviária de Lisboa now has 77 electric buses in that operation.
  • Electric vehicles represent 14.5% of the fleet assigned to Area 2.
01

The change is to the vehicles, not the network map

The buses serve an operation that covers four municipalities and carried 63.4 million passengers in 2025. Their arrival increases the share of lower-emission vehicles but does not guarantee that a particular departure will use an electric bus.

Route numbers, stops and times remain governed by the current Carris Metropolitana service information. A passenger does not need a different ticket because of the propulsion system.

02

Accessibility still has to work on the journey

Newer vehicles can improve boarding, information and comfort, but an accessible trip depends on the assigned bus, stop, pavement and interchange. Check the line and request operator assistance where needed.

Report a repeated vehicle or stop problem with the line, direction, time and stop. That evidence is more useful than assuming the entire Area 2 fleet has the same equipment.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Check the current line and departure in the Carris Metropolitana channels.

  2. 02

Allow normal interchange time; the fleet announcement does not change schedules.

  3. 03

Report an accessibility or vehicle issue with exact journey details.
