Archived 12 September 2026Owners who missed the deadline should confirm the current cost and route before starting or abandoning a registration.
- The national free-registration period ended on 30 September.
- BUPi continues to identify property boundaries and support registration.
- The applicable cost and procedure depend on the case.
- Georeferencing does not by itself settle an ownership dispute.
The deadline changed the price, not the need to clarify ownership
BUPi remains available online and through municipal service points, but the broad national exemption has expired. Owners should ask the responsible office for the current fee and required documents rather than rely on an old deadline notice.
A mapped boundary and a land-register entry are connected steps, not interchangeable proof. Conflicting titles, inheritances or boundaries may require registry, tax, survey or legal work beyond a standard BUPi submission.
Buyers should check before committing
A buyer should compare the land registry, tax record, mapped parcel and the boundaries visible on the ground. Differences need to be explained in writing before a deposit or non-refundable commitment.
Never assume that a pin on a map proves access, buildability, water rights or planning permission. Those questions belong to the relevant authority and documents.
What you can do now.
- 01
Ask BUPi or the local office for the current fee and document list.
- 02
Compare registry, tax and mapped information.
- 03
Resolve material boundary or ownership differences before paying.
