IN BRIEF

The bank says restoration is scheduled for 19 October. Customers should use only official channels, check which card and Multibanco functions still work and never give credentials to someone claiming to fix the outage.

  • The app and homebanking are temporarily unavailable through 18 October.
  • MB WAY transfers and incoming instant transfers are among the affected services.
  • Banco CTT says service restoration is planned for 19 October.
01

Plan around the published outage

The interruption is a scheduled systems update rather than an instruction to reinstall the app or disclose security codes. Operations that require the app, homebanking or the affected transfer rails should wait until the bank confirms restoration.

Card payments and Multibanco operations may provide alternatives, but availability depends on the specific operation. Check the bank's live maintenance page before relying on a transaction.

02

Treat unsolicited help as a fraud warning

Banco CTT says it does not request authentication codes, credentials or card data by phone, SMS or email. A message that uses the maintenance window to demand those details should be treated as suspicious.

Use the address typed directly into the browser or the support number published by the bank. If an essential payment is due, contact the intended recipient rather than sending money through an unverified workaround.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Check Banco CTT's maintenance page before attempting a digital operation.

  2. 02

Use only an official bank channel for support.

  3. 03

Never disclose authentication codes or credentials in response to an unsolicited message.
