Archived 12 September 2026The figure shows broad coverage, but a family still needs to ask its school or health unit which support is available for a particular child now.
- The reported reach is about 31,000 students.
- Coverage included 83 regular schools and 11 vocational schools.
- The programme combines health literacy and early intervention.
- A regional total does not guarantee the same service or appointment time on every island.
What the number tells us
The Regional Health Secretary presented the figures at an adolescent-medicine meeting in Angra do Heroísmo. The programme's stated aim is to promote health literacy and identify needs early across the school population.
Coverage is not the same as a clinical outcome. The published total does not show that every student received the same intervention or that every need was resolved.
How a family should use the programme
Start with the school when the issue concerns a school-health activity, referral or consent form. For a child's individual symptoms or treatment, use the health centre or clinical route advised for that island.
Urgent health concerns should not wait for a school programme. Use SNS 24 for non-emergency clinical guidance and call 112 for a medical emergency.
What you can do now.
- 01
Ask the school which health activities are available this year.
- 02
Use the local health unit for an individual clinical concern.
- 03
Keep school-health consent and referral information up to date.
