Archived 12 September 2026The notice does not mean every flight will be cancelled, but check-in, baggage and turnaround work may be disrupted. Passengers should verify their own flight before leaving.
- The first strike period is 07:30–10:30 Azores time from 21 to 27 October.
- The second is 16:00–19:00 from 28 October to 3 November.
- The notice covers SATA Handling staff at the company's Azores locations.
Two daily strike windows
The union notice sets two consecutive seven-day periods with different daily hours. Ground handling includes work around check-in, baggage and aircraft turnaround, so effects can extend beyond the exact strike window.
Airlines and airport operators decide the operational response. A notice of strike is therefore a reason to monitor the journey, not proof that a particular flight has changed.
Protect the complete journey
Check the airline's app or website before travelling and again on the day. Allow extra time, keep medication and essential documents in hand luggage, and retain receipts if disruption creates necessary costs.
If a flight changes, use the operating airline's verified channel for rebooking or assistance. Passenger rights depend on the facts, including the cause and the alternative offered.
What you can do now.
- 01
Check your flight with the operating airline.
