- The Central group warning runs into Monday morning.
- The Eastern group warning covers Monday morning into the afternoon.
- Heavy rain may be accompanied by thunderstorms.
- Warning times are published in local Azores time by regional civil protection.
The timing differs by island group
Regional Civil Protection says a frontal system moving east and northeast may produce locally heavy rain. The Central group warning began on Sunday night and runs until Monday midday; the Eastern group warning runs from early Monday until mid-afternoon.
A yellow warning signals risk for weather-sensitive activities, not identical conditions on every island. The Western group may still experience poor weather even where the published warning window differs.
Protect the journey rather than guessing the storm
Keep drains and balconies clear, secure loose objects and avoid flooded roads. Ferry and flight decisions belong to the operator, so check the service directly before leaving for the terminal.
Call 112 only for an emergency. Report dangerous flooding, fallen material or blocked access through the appropriate local authority when it does not require an emergency response.
What you can do now.
- 01
Check the current Civil Protection warning for your island group.
- 02
Confirm flights and ferries before travelling.
- 03
Do not drive through standing or fast-moving water.
