IN BRIEF

One proposal does not mean that the contract has been awarded or that construction has a confirmed start date.

  • The design-and-build procedure has a stated total investment of €8.1 million.
  • Only one company submitted a proposal.
  • The proposal is under analysis and no award has been announced.
  • The project includes new classrooms and a covered games area, with later work planned for the historic Palácio da Fonte Bela.
01

What the tender result means

The international public tender closed with a single proposal. The regional public-works service must now check that bid against the procedure's legal, technical and financial requirements.

A one-bid tender can still proceed if the proposal is valid and acceptable, but the number of bidders is not evidence of an award. Price, timetable and construction start remain subject to the formal decision and subsequent contract steps.

02

What the project is intended to change

The planned expansion adds teaching rooms to address the shortage of space and move classes out of the heavily used historic Palácio da Fonte Bela. A covered games area and other modern learning spaces are also included.

A later phase is expected to address the historic building itself. Until the procurement decision is published, the school community should treat the scope as the planned project rather than a confirmed construction schedule.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

What you can do now.

  1. 01

Follow the formal award decision rather than assuming the bidder has won.

  2. 02

Use school notices for any change to access or teaching space.

  3. 03

Separate the new-building phase from later work on the historic building.
