IN BRIEF

The activities are free, but places are limited and advance booking is required. The programme is spread across five Ria Formosa municipalities rather than one festival site.

  • The festival runs from 25 to 27 September, with 25 September reserved for schools.
  • Public activities take place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September.
  • The programme covers Loulé, Faro, Olhão, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António.
  • Participation is free, but each activity must be booked in advance.
01

One festival across the Ria Formosa

Algarve Nature Fest is built around the landscapes and wildlife of the Ria Formosa. The public weekend includes guided walks, cycling routes, canoeing, birdwatching, boat trips and other activities across Loulé, Faro, Olhão, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António.

Friday 25 September is aimed at schools. The programme opens to the wider public on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September. There is no single entrance gate, so the meeting place shown for the chosen activity is the detail that matters on the day.

02

Book for the person who will actually take part

Activities are free but capacity is limited. Check the age range, difficulty, language, duration and equipment notes before reserving. Some sessions may not suit a small child, reduced mobility or a first-time paddler even if the festival itself is family-friendly.

Use the booking confirmation for the exact meeting point and arrival time. Organisers advise arriving early, and individual activities can have their own cancellation or weather arrangements. Bring sun protection, water and footwear suited to the activity rather than the town visit around it.
