Archived 1 November 2026Conditions may vary sharply over a short distance. People in the Algarve and lower Alentejo should check the live warning before travel or outdoor plans and avoid exposed or flooded places during a storm.
- The warning runs from 12:00 to 18:00 UTC on 19 October.
- IPMA says local rainfall could reach 10 to 20 mm in one hour.
- Local hail below 2 cm and gusts of 70 to 90 km/h are possible.
A yellow warning can still produce a severe local burst
The warning covers a risk of lightning, intense rain over a short period, small hail and strong gusts. It does not mean every part of both districts will experience all of those conditions.
A storm cell can make a road hazardous before conditions change in a nearby town. A dry departure point is not evidence that the full route is clear.
Use the live warning for the journey you are making
Check IPMA and local civil-protection information shortly before leaving. Postpone exposed coastal, hill or open-water activity when thunder is nearby and never drive through water when its depth or the road surface cannot be judged.
Secure loose outdoor items and move away from trees, scaffolding and other exposed structures during strong gusts. Call 112 for an immediate emergency rather than using a weather page as an emergency channel.
